Photo Storage with Google Photos set to High Quality

This post is to experiment with uploading large photos and see if it affects my Drive storage numbers. Right now, Drive storage reports that there is 1GB being used by Google Photos.

If I upload some full-size images from my C drive, will the GP drive space used change? The following 6 photos are right at 16 megapixels - all are over 6MB in file size. I think we'll see that when I find them in Google Photos (thru the archive) they will be compressed.
Original = 5184X3456 pixels 6.2 MB, Album Archive = 2048X1365 pixels 481K
Original 5184X3456 pixels 6.2MB, Album Archive = 2048X1365 pixels 367K

Original = 5184x3456 pixels 6.0 MB, Album Archive = 2048x1365 pixels 368K

Original = 5130x1549 pixels 6.7 MB, Album Archive = 2048x1365 pixels 524K

Original = 5184x3456 pixels 6.8 MB, Album Archive = 2048x1365 pixels 439K

Original = 5184x3456 pixels 6.2 MB, Album Archive = 2048x1365 pixels 531K

Original = 5184x3456 pixels 6.5 MB, Album Archive = 2048x1365 pixels 531K
Ah, yes - indeed! It not only compressed the file size, but reduced pixels as well.
